Blackbutt - 8mm Oakleaf Laminate Flooring

Blackbutt in the Preference Floors Oakleaf range is a rich golden-amber, noticeably more saturated than the species actually lays. Real Australian blackbutt is a paler gold with a soft olive cast; this is a warmer, more golden interpretation of it. That is not a fault so much as a choice, and it is worth knowing which one you want: if you are matching existing blackbutt boards elsewhere in the house, ask us to compare before you order. If you simply want a warm golden timber floor that lifts a room, this does that very well, and the warmth is genuinely useful in spaces that get little direct sun.

Oakleaf's substance is in the board rather than the surface. The core is FSC certified HDF, so the fibre is traceable to responsibly managed forests, and it carries a lifetime structural warranty covering the board for as long as you own the floor. Neither is common at this price. The click system is licensed from Flooring Industries and installs floating with no adhesive; the range is fire and slip test certified to Australian requirements.

This is the 8mm AC3 board at 1215mm x 195mm, 1.895m² per pack. AC3 is the standard residential rating, right for bedrooms, living areas and ordinary domestic traffic; for a busy hallway or a rental, the same colours come in a 12mm AC4 board at 2200mm long. Either way, suitable over in-slab hydronic heating only, not electric underfloor heating.
