Sumptuous - Platinum - 12mm Cut Pile Carpet

Platinum is a mid cool grey with a brown undertone running underneath it, which is what stops it from being the flat, hard grey that the name suggests. It is the grey for people who want a grey floor but have been put off by how cold most of them look. Compared with Porcelain it is considerably darker and lacks the green cast; compared with Cloud Nine, which is a warm grey-taupe of similar depth, Platinum sits clearly on the cool side while the brown beneath keeps it liveable. It pairs easily with white, charcoal, navy, black-framed glazing and pale timber. If you want an unmistakably warm floor, Luxe or Elite are the mid tones to look at instead.

The construction is Belgotex's Sumptuous specification: a tufted cut pile in 100% Premium Soft Solution Dyed Nylon. The soft in that description is the whole reason the range exists. Belgotex engineered the yarn for softness underfoot rather than for maximum density, and at 12.0mm total thickness the result is a deep plush pile with real cushioning in it. That places it firmly in bedrooms, main suites and living rooms; the Extra Heavy Duty Residential and Medium Duty Commercial usage rating tells you Belgotex do not intend it as a stair-and-corridor workhorse.

Worth saying plainly: a deep soft cut pile shows footprints and vacuum marks more than a loop pile or a patterned carpet does, and in a mid grey those show as light and dark banding in raking sun. It is entirely cosmetic and it brushes out. The colour underneath is extremely stable. Solution dying adds pigment to the nylon in liquid form, so the colour is locked into the fibre rather than applied to the surface of it, making Platinum stain proof and fade proof and safe to clean hard. FusionBac reinforced backing holds the 4.0m broadloom flat through wide rooms, and the fire rating is CRF 2.6 kW/m2 tested to AS ISO 9239-1.

Belgotex warrant it for 15 years residential and 5 years commercial. They hold ISO 14001 certification and have set Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) targets; solution dying uses no water, and the carpet is low VOC emitting. Supply and install available across Sydney.
