Sumptuous - Whisper - 12mm Cut Pile Carpet

Read the swatch, not the name: Whisper is a dark cool charcoal-grey. It is one of the deepest colours in Sumptuous, a long way from the pale, barely-there tone the name implies, and it is easily the most misjudged colour in the range. Against Platinum, the mid cool grey, Whisper is several shades darker and considerably more dramatic; it stops short of the near-black density of Spell Bound and the true black of Dreamy, keeping enough grey in it to read as charcoal rather than black. Use it where you want a strong, grounding floor: a main bedroom with pale walls, a media room, a study, a living room with a lot of glazing. In a small, north-facing room with limited light it will pull the space in, and Platinum is the grey to use there.

Belgotex's Sumptuous range is built on 100% Premium Soft Solution Dyed Nylon, and the softness is engineered rather than incidental: the yarn prioritises how the carpet feels underfoot over sheer density. Tufted as a deep cut pile at 12.0mm total thickness, it gives a plush, cushioned floor that suits bedrooms, main suites and living rooms far better than stairs and hallways. The trade-off on a dark plush carpet is worth spelling out. A deep soft cut pile records footprints and vacuum lines, and on a charcoal those show as lighter tracks across the floor, cosmetic, brushes out, but more visible than it would be on a patterned or loop carpet. Dark tones do hide soiling and traffic marks well in return. The colour is locked in by solution dying: pigment goes into the nylon while it is still liquid, so Whisper is stain proof and fade proof, resistant to the sun-greying that afflicts dark carpet near windows, and safe to clean with strong products. FusionBac reinforced backing stabilises the 4.0m broadloom. Fire rating CRF 2.6 kW/m2 to AS ISO 9239-1.

Warranty is 15 years residential and 5 years commercial. Belgotex hold ISO 14001 certification and have set Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) targets; solution dying uses no water and the carpet is low VOC emitting. Supply and install available across Sydney.
