XXL 8.0 - Ebony - 8mm Hybrid Flooring

There is nothing subtle about Ebony, and that is the point: a near-black deep brown with fine darker grain, the strongest statement in XXL 8.0 by a wide margin. Royal Oak, the next darkest, is a cool grey by comparison rather than a true black. Ebony belongs in rooms with height, light and pale walls, where it grounds a space the way a dark rug does, and it looks its best under warm brass, pale stone and mid-century timber. In a compact, low-light room it will feel heavy, and in a house full of small children it will be relentless work.

Near-black floors show everything pale — dust, lint, light pet hair, dry footprints — and they show it most in low-angle sunlight through a west-facing window. They also hide dark soil completely and give a depth no other board can. If you want Ebony in a high-traffic area, plan for a rug at every entry and expect to run a microfibre mop more often than you would over a mid-brown. In a formal living room or a bedroom with good light, the upkeep is entirely reasonable for the effect.

XXL 8.0 pairs an extra-long 1511 x 229mm board with an 8mm build that already includes 1.5mm of IXPE acoustic underlay on the back, so nothing separate goes down first. Above the core sit a 0.55mm wear layer and an anti-bacterial UV coating, and every edge is micro-bevelled so each plank stays legible once the floor is laid. Boards join on a Välinge 5G locking profile and float over the existing substrate. The core is waterproof, but a click-together floor is not a waterproof assembly and is not a substitute for a waterproofing membrane — speak to us before specifying it for a wet area.
