Candly - 15/4mm Quercus Engineered Timber Flooring

Quercus Candly is a near-black oak, a deep charcoal-brown with the grain just visible as a slightly lighter figure, and the darkest board HTT makes in engineered timber. It is darker and browner than Bonita Brescia.

A black floor is a commitment. It needs light, height and pale everything else: walls, rugs, upholstery. It shows dust, pale hair and footprints, and it makes a small room feel smaller. In the right room, a large living space with big windows and white walls, nothing else has the same effect.

Quercus carries a 4mm European oak veneer on a plywood core for 15mm in total, twice the timber of a 14/2 board. That thickness is what makes a future sand and recoat possible, and on a dark floor, where scratches show as pale lines, it is worth having. Boards are 1900mm by 190mm, tongue and groove, for direct stick or floating installation.

The surface is a 5 to 8 percent matt with a micro bevel on all four edges. ABCD grading allows knots and variation, with up to a quarter short boards per box, and a 2.166m2 pack weighs 21.5kg. Wet slip is P3 to AS 4586:2013. Residential warranty is 25 years structural and 7 years on the finish; wet areas and steam mops are excluded.
