Ornato - Como - 5.3mm Looselay Vinyl Plank

Deep chocolate-brown with a warm red-brown undercurrent, Como is the richest of the dark decors in the Ornato range without tipping into black. Laid alongside Latina the difference is obvious: Latina is a smoked, near-charcoal oak with coarse rustic figure, while Como holds onto brown and keeps its grain quieter and more even. It rewards rooms that have light to spare - big glazing, pale walls, high ceilings - and it looks genuinely expensive against white or stone joinery. Avoid it in a narrow hallway or a south-facing unit with small windows, and think twice if the household walks in sand or fine grit, because a dark matt floor shows dust faster than any other colour in the collection.

Because looselay planks are held by weight and friction rather than a locking profile or full adhesive bond, a dark floor like Como can be lived with more easily than you would expect. If a board picks up a deep scratch that stands out against the depth of colour, it lifts out and a replacement drops in - no cutting into adjacent rows, no patch of visible glue. That plank-by-plank serviceability is why looselay is specified so often for offices, retail tenancies and rental fitouts, where a single damaged board should never trigger a whole-room replacement.

Each plank is 178 x 1219mm and 5.3mm thick, built around a fibreglass core layer that keeps the board flat and dimensionally stable rather than relying on an interlocking joint. The surface is protected by a 0.50mm PU wear layer and treated with a NanoSilver antibacterial coating, and the squared edge lets boards sit tight against each other with no bevel to trap grit. Installation is looselay and glueless, with a minimal amount of adhesive used over large open spans. The floor is rated R10, insulates well against both sound and heat, and works over underfloor heating. It is moisture resistant, but a looselay floor is not a waterproofing system, so speak with us before specifying it for a bathroom or laundry.
