Ornato - Latina - 5.3mm Looselay Vinyl Plank

Latina is the darkest decor in the Ornato collection and the most heavily textured - a smoked, almost charcoal-brown oak shot through with coarse open grain, sawn marks and dark knot shadows. Como is its closest neighbour but stays noticeably warmer and browner with a calmer figure, so the two are easy to tell apart side by side even though both photograph as simply dark. Latina suits a deliberately moody interior: black-framed windows, concrete or stone benchtops, a room with enough natural light to carry it. It is the wrong call for compact apartments, poorly lit hallways, or a household that wants a low-maintenance floor, because dark tones with strong texture read every speck of lint and every footprint.

Where Latina becomes practical rather than purely dramatic is in how it is laid. Looselay planks are not clicked or fully bonded - their weight, friction and squared edges hold them in position - so the floor can be opened up at any point in its life. Pull a board, run a cable, replace a plank chipped by a dropped pan, and the room is back together the same afternoon. In a retail fitout or a leased office where the tenancy may be reconfigured, that reversibility is the reason looselay gets specified over a click hybrid.

Underneath the print, this is a 5.3mm plank at 178 x 1219mm, stabilised by an internal fibreglass core layer so it holds its shape without needing a locking joint to restrain it. Wear protection comes from a 0.50mm PU layer, with a NanoSilver antibacterial coating over the surface and a squared edge profile that leaves no bevel line. Installation is looselay and glueless, with a minimal amount of adhesive used over large open areas. The floor carries an R10 slip rating, insulates well against both sound and heat, and is suitable for use over underfloor heating. It is moisture resistant, but a looselay floor is not a waterproofing system - check with us before specifying it in a bathroom or laundry.
