Ornato - Sienna - 5.3mm Looselay Vinyl Plank

Red-brown, warm and unmistakably Australian, Sienna is printed from native eucalypt with long ribbon figure sweeping down the length of each plank and caramel highlights breaking up the deeper tones. It shares a family resemblance with Spotted Gum, but Spotted Gum is cooler and greyer in its banding while Sienna commits fully to red and honey - and where Vichy is pinker and lighter, Sienna is denser and more saturated. It belongs in homes that want a recognisably Australian hardwood look: brick veneer renovations, federation cottages, anywhere warm timber trim already exists. It will fight with cool grey kitchens and blue-toned tiling, so pair it deliberately.

Timber-look floors with this much natural variation reward an installer who can lay the planks out before fixing them, and looselay allows exactly that. No plank is locked to its neighbour or bonded to the slab; the boards are held by their own weight and friction, so the run can be adjusted right up until the last minute and any single plank can be lifted and replaced years later without a trace. That repairability is why looselay is so often chosen for retail floors, offices and rental fitouts, where damage is expected and a full recarpet-style replacement is not an option.

Construction is straightforward and well proven: a 178 x 1219mm plank, 5.3mm thick, with a fibreglass core layer that keeps the board flat and dimensionally stable in place of a mechanical locking joint. Surface protection is a 0.50mm PU wear layer with a NanoSilver antibacterial coating over it, and the squared edge profile gives a flush join with nowhere for grit to sit. It installs looselay and glueless, with minimal adhesive used across large open areas. The floor is R10 rated, offers excellent sound and heat insulation, and suits underfloor heating. It is moisture resistant, though a looselay floor is not a waterproofing system - speak to us before specifying it for a bathroom or laundry.
