Sumptuous - Cloud Nine - 12mm Cut Pile Carpet

Despite the name, Cloud Nine is not a pale colour. It is a mid warm grey-taupe: a good deal deeper than Pearl or Porcelain, and comfortably in the middle of the Sumptuous range rather than at the light end of it. Expect a grounded, softly warm grey with a taupe lean, not a white-cloud tone. That makes it one of the more practical colours here: mid tones hide everyday soil and shading better than pales do, and the warmth stops it feeling clinical. It sits between the grey of Platinum and the mushroom of Luxe, and if you hold all three together Cloud Nine is the greyest of the warm options. If you genuinely want a pale carpet, look at Pearl or Porcelain instead. Buying Cloud Nine on the name alone is the most common mistake made in this range.

Sumptuous is Belgotex's soft-handle Premium SDN range, and the yarn is what distinguishes it. It is 100% Premium Soft Solution Dyed Nylon, engineered for softness underfoot rather than for the dense, tight construction of a heavy commercial carpet, and it is tufted as a deep cut pile at 12.0mm total thickness. On the floor that means real cushioning, warmth and sound absorption: the reason it belongs in bedrooms, main suites and living rooms rather than on stairs and in entries.

The trade-off with any deep soft cut pile is that it shows footprints and vacuum marks, and Cloud Nine is no exception, although a mid tone disguises them better than a pale one does. The colour itself is protected by solution dying: pigment is added to the nylon while it is still liquid, so the colour is part of the fibre rather than a coating on it. Cloud Nine is therefore stain proof and fade proof, can be cleaned with strong chemistry without going blotchy, and will not lighten in sun. FusionBac reinforced backing keeps the 4.0m broadloom dimensionally stable. Belgotex rate it Extra Heavy Duty Residential and Medium Duty Commercial, with a CRF of 2.6 kW/m2 to AS ISO 9239-1.

Warranty is 15 years residential and 5 years commercial. Belgotex are ISO 14001 certified and have set Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) targets; solution dying uses no water and the carpet is low VOC emitting. Supply and install available across Sydney.
