Sumptuous - Elite - 12mm Cut Pile Carpet

Elite is a mid warm taupe-brown, and the easiest way to place it is against Luxe: same family, but Elite is darker and distinctly warmer, with more brown pulled through the taupe. Where Luxe reads mushroom, Elite reads soft earth. It is still a neutral rather than a feature colour. It is not the true brown of English Toffee, which is a proper toffee tone, but it has enough depth to hold a large room together and enough warmth to work beside timber, leather, terracotta and cream. Because it is deeper than most of the pales here, it is also more forgiving day to day. In a cool, grey-and-white interior it will look out of step, and Platinum is the mid-tone neutral that belongs there.

It is 100% Premium Soft Solution Dyed Nylon, soft being the operative specification, since the yarn is engineered around how the carpet feels underfoot rather than around the density a high-traffic commercial floor demands. Tufted as a cut pile to 12.0mm total thickness, it is deep and plush, and it changes how a bedroom or living room feels to walk into: warmer, quieter, more comfortable.

That plushness comes with one honest caveat. A deep soft cut pile shows footprints and vacuum lines in a way a loop or a patterned carpet does not. On a mid brown like Elite the effect is subtle and it brushes out, but it is worth knowing before the carpet is down. The colour is the durable part: solution dying puts pigment into the nylon while it is liquid, so the carpet is stain proof and fade proof, cleanable with strong products without patching, and stable in sunlight. Underneath, FusionBac reinforced backing stabilises the 4.0m broadloom. Belgotex rate it Extra Heavy Duty Residential and Medium Duty Commercial, with a fire rating of CRF 2.6 kW/m2 to AS ISO 9239-1.
