Sumptuous - Pearl - 12mm Cut Pile Carpet

Pearl is a light warm greige: the pale end of Sumptuous, sitting a clear step above Royal Beige in lightness while keeping the same warm undertone rather than going grey. Put the two side by side and Pearl is the one that brightens a room; Royal Beige is the one that grounds it. It is warmer than Porcelain, which is the coolest pale in the range and carries a green cast, and it is far lighter than Cloud Nine, whose name misleads people into expecting a pale and which is in fact a mid grey-taupe. Pearl suits bedrooms with white or warm white walls, sheer curtains and a lot of morning light. In a household with dogs or a direct path in from a garden, it is the least forgiving colour here and Luxe or Platinum would be the wiser pick.

Belgotex build Sumptuous around one idea: a Premium Soft Solution Dyed Nylon yarn engineered for softness underfoot instead of for maximum density. At 12.0mm it is a deep, plush cut pile that gives underfoot in a way a commercial-weight carpet never does. This is a bedroom, main suite and living room carpet, and it is not pretending to be a hallway and stair workhorse. Belgotex rate it Extra Heavy Duty Residential but only Medium Duty Commercial, which tells you where it is meant to live.

Two things follow from that plushness. The good one: it is genuinely comfortable to stand and sit on, and it insulates and quietens a room. The honest one: a deep soft cut pile holds footprints and vacuum lines, and on a pale colour like Pearl you will see that shading in low afternoon light. It brushes out and it is not damage, but it is the trade-off for the softness. What protects the colour is the solution dying. Pigment is added to the nylon while it is liquid, so Pearl is stain proof and fade proof, cleans hard without patching, and will not yellow in sunlight. FusionBac backing keeps the 4.0m broadloom stable, and the fire rating is CRF 2.6 kW/m2 to AS ISO 9239-1.
