Sumptuous - Porcelain - 12mm Cut Pile Carpet

Porcelain is the coolest pale colour in Sumptuous: a light grey with a distinct green cast, closer to a pale stone or sea glass than to a warm cream. That green is what separates it from Pearl, which is a warm greige of similar lightness, and from Royal Beige, which is warmer again and carries a pink note. Porcelain is the colour to choose when the rest of the room is cool: crisp white walls, black or brushed nickel tapware, blue-grey or sage joinery, pale oak. It is the wrong choice where the scheme is built on warmth: against cream walls, spotted gum floors or brass, the green undertone turns the carpet slightly grey and lifeless, and Pearl is the pale to use instead.

Sumptuous uses 100% Premium Soft Solution Dyed Nylon: a yarn engineered specifically for softness underfoot rather than for the density that a heavy-traffic commercial carpet needs. Combined with a 12.0mm total thickness, the result is a deep, plush cut pile that is a pleasure to walk on barefoot and that noticeably quietens a room. It is built for bedrooms, main suites and living areas, and Belgotex's rating of Extra Heavy Duty Residential with only Medium Duty Commercial reflects that intent.

Be aware of the trade-off: a soft, deep cut pile takes footprints and vacuum marks in a way a loop or patterned carpet does not, and on a cool pale like Porcelain those marks read as faint shading rather than dirt. They brush out. The colour itself is unusually robust for a pale. Solution dying puts the pigment inside the fibre rather than on its surface, making Porcelain stain proof and fade proof, safe to clean aggressively, and stable under Sydney sun. A FusionBac reinforced backing holds the 4.0m broadloom flat and true through wide rooms. Fire rating is CRF 2.6 kW/m2 tested to AS ISO 9239-1, the lowest figure across these Belgotex ranges.

It is warranted for 15 years residential and 5 years commercial. Belgotex hold ISO 14001 certification and have set Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) targets; their solution dying process uses no water and the carpet is low VOC emitting. Supply and install available across Sydney.
