Sumptuous - Royal Beige - 12mm Cut Pile Carpet

Royal Beige is a warm mid sand-beige with a faint pink cast to it: soft rather than yellow, and warmer on the floor than most beiges photograph. It is a mid tone, noticeably deeper than Pearl, which is the paler warm greige in the range, and it has none of the cool green edge that makes Porcelain read grey. That pink warmth is what makes it flattering in bedrooms and living rooms lit by lamps in the evening; it is also what makes it a poor match for a hard, cool scheme of crisp white walls, black joinery and blue-grey accents, where it can look slightly dusty. Porcelain or Platinum are the cooler neutrals to consider in that case.

Sumptuous is a Belgotex Premium SDN range, and its defining feature is the yarn: 100% Premium Soft Solution Dyed Nylon. The word that matters is soft. Belgotex have engineered this yarn for how it feels underfoot rather than for maximum density, and at 12.0mm total thickness it is a deep, plush cut pile with genuine give in it. It is a carpet for bedrooms, main suites and living rooms, the rooms where you walk barefoot, rather than a stair-and-hallway workhorse.

The honest trade-off is worth knowing before you buy. A deep, soft cut pile shows footprints and vacuum marks far more readily than a loop pile or a patterned carpet does. In a beige this pale that shading is visible in raking light across a bedroom floor. It is not wear and it brushes out, but if a perfectly uniform surface matters to you, a patterned carpet is the better answer. Solution dyeing means the pigment is locked into the fibre rather than applied to the outside of it, so Royal Beige is stain proof and fade proof and can be cleaned hard without going patchy: the specification that makes a pale carpet practical at all. Underneath, FusionBac reinforced backing stabilises the 4.0m broadloom. Belgotex rate it Extra Heavy Duty Residential and Medium Duty Commercial, with a CRF of 2.6 kW/m2 to AS ISO 9239-1.

Warranty is 15 years residential and 5 years commercial. Belgotex hold ISO 14001 certification and have set Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) targets; solution dying uses no water, and the carpet is low VOC emitting. Supply and install available across Sydney.
